Band of Burgers, reporting for duty, sir!

So my sister invited me to try out this new burger place near UPLB called Band of Burgers. They had me at their name. I’m no Band of Brothers TV series fan but it was catchy enough. Also, my sister knew about it because it’s co-owned by her best friend’s brother.

We got there at around 2:15pm and it was empty. The place is small since it was the office of the political party Agham, which my family supports. The interior is simple enough, red and grey walls, red chairs and white tables, with the menu on one side. While we were waiting for our food, my sister had a lot of ideas to make the place more army-ish like adding combat boots and helmets as decor, having the waiters dress up with birets, camouflage wall paint and a whole lot more. I pointed out to her that it was still their soft opening so maybe they can add the soldier stuff once the business lifts off.

As for the food, prices are fairly affordable, ranging from P60 to about P200 per burger, from fish burgers to double bacons. Additional fries and drinks costs P20 for the meal. They also had milk shakes, which is part of the American burger diner, and some Mozzarella sticks too.

My sister ordered the Lamb Burger with iced tea and sweet potato fries (top right photo below) while I had the Bacon Cheeseburger with onion rings and blue lemonade. We were surprised by the beef patty because it was huge and juicy, not dry at all. I like my burger because it was freshly made and had the perfect proportion of mayo, ketchup, veggies and cheese. I also liked the lemonade because it wasn’t too sour nor sweet, though my sister didn’t like it and described it as watered down. Additional points for it being blue. I didn’t like the onion rings though, I found it too much thickly breaded. I like my onion rings with more onions than breading. Plus, it was only 6 pieces when I was hoping for more. I also tasted the Lamb Burger and it was good too, though I’m not a fan of lamb so I wouldn’t be able to eat a whole burger of that. My sister liked it though, even the iced tea and sweet potato fries. I found the fries a tad dry though.

All in all, we spent about P350 for all that. Not bad for good old fashioned burgers that are fresh, juicy and 100% beef. Try them out if you visit Los Banos and check out their Facebook page for more information.
