We booked at Taipei Walker Guesthouse and shelled out about NT1000 each (3pax) for our 2 nights stay, excluding the 10% deposit. Breakfast – toast and coffee – was included. We were able to get the whole room with 3 single beds for ourselves. It had the basic amenities – clean and comfy bed, thick comforter, windows in the room, heater in the shared shower, communal kitchen and laundry area, and two baths and toilets and another extra toilet. Plus, they went the extra mile with free use of blow dryers and free shower gel, shampoo, cotton pads and earbuds. We were joking that we were the only ones in the hostel, which seemed like it. Not complaining though since we didn’t need to hurry using the shower rooms (though later on we met two Japanese guys).
Interiors are very young in vibe – as most hostels and backpacker inns are – and the staff, particularly Nora, was very nice and had great English speaking skills. It’s close to the Zhishan MRT station (about 5mins walk) and there’s a 711 by the corner (about 2mins walk). A Carrefour grocery is also near (about 10mins walk) plus a department store near Carrefour too (which also has a grocery store below) called Sogo. It houses cosmetics, clothes, bags and shoes, and Uniqlo. It also has Starbucks and the famous Din Tai Fung in the basement.
