Vacationista: US Trip Day 9 (Babe’s, Trader Joe’s)

Standard

Back in Dallas, since Christmas is just around the corner, we started with all our holiday preparations. Lunch with my mom, cousin and sister was at Babe’s, this local run-of-the-mill looking restaurant known for its Southern style fried chicken. But once inside, the place takes you to a whole different place. It was quite dark so photos look ugly but it was made of wood and had that rustic feel.

We had to order four sets of meal (they didn’t allow just three) so we ordered their fried chicken, roasted chicken, steak fried chicken and their garden salad sets. Our orders came with sides of mash potato, beans, corn, biscuits and gravy.

We dropped by Trader Joe’s to grab a few things such as the famous Cookie Butter which my mom wanted, Lemon Yoghurt, Panettone and some snacks like Caramel Popcorn, Sour n Cream Corn Puff and Sweet Potato Chips. My cousin bought mochi (again) and some macarons.

My favorite purchase would be the $0.99 reusable bags because 1) I am a sucker for cute designs and 2) it’s something good for the environment. I also liked their Green Tea infused mints though found the $2 price tag too much for candy.

Dropped by Walmart where I got a tube of mascara, face powder and a $5 Starbucks Peppermint Mocha drink, which was pretty cheap compared to the over-the-counter drink. But to be honest, it wasn’t as good though.

We then had some dinner of localized nilaga – huge American chicken with kale, cabbage, baby carrots and potatoes
